Metamorphic rock from compressed and heated limestone. Being a calcium carbonite, this material is a little soft (between 3 to 4 on Mohs scale of hardness), but still produces a nice polish. Because it is a little soft, I like to use slightly thicker pieces for lapidary. I recommend avoiding 80 grit and use little pressure.
