This Sega Game Gear 5 Game Lot includes NBA Jam, Taz Mania, Putt & Putter, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Columns. The games are compatible with NTSC-U/C (US/Canada) systems and were released in 1993. Putt & Putter: There are 18 holes in the game that increase in difficulty as the player progresses. Holes all have various obstacles that must be negotiated including sand traps, moving platforms and pinball style bumpers Almost all holes are surrounded by water and shots ending up off the course are given a one-stroke penalty. Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic travels through six levels called zones, each consisting of two main acts and a boss battle with Robotnik. The zones are based on various themes, such as grassy plains, ancient ruins, and jungles. Some of the game’s levels require quick precision and others require the player to go underwater.  Certain acts have Chaos Emeralds hidden within them, and the player must collect all six to obtain the best possible ending.  At the end of each main act, the player hits a signpost, which will spin and land on an image; it can award bonuses depending on the image it settles on.  If the player has over 50 rings, they can access a pinball-esque bonus stage where more rings and continues can be collected. NBA Jam: The game puts two players per team on the basketball court. Each game consists of four quarters of three minutes each. The goal is to outscore the other team; baskets from within the three-point line are worth two points, and shots from outside of it are worth three points. A key feature of the game is the exaggerated nature of the play. Players can jump extremely high and make slam dunks that defy both human capabilities and the laws of physics. There are no fouls, free throws, or violations except goaltending and a 24-second shot clock. This means that the player is able to freely shove or elbow opponents out of the way. Taz Mania: In the Mega Drive/Genesis version players control Taz as he searches for the giant egg. Taz is able to jump, spin into a tornado and eat various objects. Spinning into a tornado allows Taz to defeat most enemies, as well as gain extra jump distance, knock away items and get past certain obstacles unharmed. Taz has the ability to eat most, if not all items throughout the level, such as health recovering food items, extra lives and continues. Eating some chilli peppers allows Taz to breathe fire in order to defeat stronger enemies, while eating a star grants Taz temporary invincibility. Other items, such as bombs and weed killer can be thrown at enemies, but will damage Taz if he eats them. Columns: Columns of three different symbols (such as differently-colored jewels) appear, one at a time, at the top of the well and fall to the bottom, landing either on the floor or on top of previously fallen “columns”. While a column is falling, the player can move it left and right, and can also cycle the positions of the symbols within it. After a column lands, if three or more of the same symbols are connected in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, those symbols disappear. The pile of columns then settles under gravity. If this resettlement causes three or more other symbols to align, they too disappear and the cycle repeats. Occasionally, a special column with a multicolor Magic Jewel appears. It destroys all the jewels with the same color as the one underneath it. The columns fall at a faster rate as the player progresses. The goal of the game is to play for as long as possible before the well fills up with jewels, which ends the game. Players can score up to 99,999,999 points.
