This collection is in excellent vintage condition. There is no evidence of damage or repair to this item. There is truthfully very little to fault with this extraordinary find. The exterior glazing on the jar is vibrant, and oblique lighting reveals very few exterior scratches or scuffs. The whimsical artwork is very well-preserved, with only one noticeable spot of color loss noted on close examination: one of the black outlines of the “leaf” motif has faded over time (highlighted in Picture 4). The interior is exceptionally clean and odor-free, as the jar appears to have been unused. The unglazed footrings on Dalom items are known to discolor, however this jar is remarkably clean in this area, exhibiting only very minor age-related wear (Picture 5). The solid teak — which has been well-cared for — has a light blonde-colored patina on top, while the underside has a slightly darker hue (Pictures 8 & 9). This lid simply rests on top of the jar, as the lids for Dalom jars were never manufactured with inner cork stoppers or rubberized gaskets to secure their fit. Whether used for display or for holding household items, this unusual jar is a very collectible Westman design. This item is stamped with the “Rörstrand Sweden” logo and the “Dalom 1” label.
