This SG model was made in Japan for the Japanese market in the late 1980s and 1990s under an official license from Gibson and bearing the “Orville” name of Orville Gibson, the founder of Gibson. It does not have “by Gibson” on it, but has a mahogany body, mahogany neck, rose fretboard, and Orville’s original pickups. This model was very popular for its Gibson head shape and other original endorsed looks, and many people are looking for this model. The overall appearance of the guitar shows signs of use (metal plate peeling on knobs, dents and paint chips around the body and on the head, dents on the binding, scuffs and scratches from playing, picking marks, buckle marks, fogging, bits and rust on metal parts and screws, and other exterior damage). The fretboard has been set up (cleaning, string replacement, rod adjustment, octave adjustment, string height adjustment, and fret adjustment) upon arrival, and the fret board is high enough to play well. The truss rod can be tightened or loosened up to ±60°.
