Product Description: This offering is for a new pair of women’s New Balance 1080 v11 running shoes in a size 7.5 D (US). Note: the “D” sizing indicator represents a women’s wide shoe width. As viewed in the pictures, these shoes are mostly light blue with some black and white accents. Some detailed specifications include the following… Pronation type: Neutral Drop: 8 mm Heel stack height: 30 mm Forefoot stack height: 22 mm Weight (each shoe): 8.2 oz (per digital scale) Other notes: I understand these shoes are considered to be a “D” (wide) width for women, and based on my oldest daughters’ experience, these shoes offer plenty of room (and she generally needs a wider shoe). Both of my daughters have run in these shoes, as well as newer versions of this same model. They have since outgrown this size, so we are making them available here. They generally like to train in max cushion shoes and are mostly neutral runners, but they found the max cushion shoes were not ideal for races. Now when I say races, we are talking about small-town Kansas high school track meets, etc. So we’re not setting any records over here, but nonetheless they wanted something that felt a little faster on race day and the few training sessions leading up to race day. Of course just about anything is going to feel faster than a max cushion shoe and they settled on the New Balance 1080 (as well as the Brooks Ghost). These are still trainer shoes for sure, but most would not consider them max cushion models. In the end, their idea of racing is running as fast as they can to say in shape for the other sports, while not getting hurt (which probably explains why we’ve been so conservative with our race day shoe choices…including these New Balance 1080’s). I also want to mention the foam (Fresh Foam X) under foot and moderate drop measurement. I don’t quite know how to describe the Fresh Foam X. It’s not super soft/plush, but at the same time it’s not a really bouncy/springy foam. Maybe it’s best described as a blend between the two that many seem to like in a trainer. The stack height is fairly common by trainer standards, at 30 mm in the heel and 22 mm in the forefoot. No one would likely consider this to be and aggressive drop, but coupled with the rocker design, probably allows for a faster turnover compared to some other trainers. I also want to mention the heel collar/counter. It’s that minimalist design that New Balance introduced on some of their running shoes a few years ago. Although, I don’t see it still being used on current models. My guess is this is because the design was rather polarizing…meaning that some really liked it and others did not. I’ve run in men’s New Balance 1080’s with the same heel collar/counter and at first I thought my heel would not lock-in, but I ended up never really having a problem. For the most part, my two daughters have shared a similar experience. It’s definitely not as plush and some would say not as comfortable of a heel collar/counter design, but I ended up being okay with it. I do want to mention this heel collar/counter does have some substance/stiffness to it. In other words, it’s not just a flimsy piece of neoprene covered in a mesh-like fabric on the inside. As alluded to above, we bought a few pairs of these shoes, but we won’t use them all. This is becoming a bit of a habit with me, where I end up buying more shoes than we really need, and some end up collecting dust in their retail boxes. That is the case here. These are new shoes that have never been tried on or taken out of their box, except for the pictures uploaded above. Listing Update…This is my last pair of shoes in this model/size.
