In the heart of Minnesota’s northwoods, there sits a small antique shop, where the pines stand tall and the lakes freeze over, there lies a small town known as Whispering Pines. It’s a place where the snow blankets the earth in silence, and the aurora borealis dances across the night sky. In this shop, high on a dusty shelf, I spotted this lovely porcelain doll dressed in white. I asked the shop keeper if she was for sale and what was her story as I immediately felt drawn to her, she radiated such sadness. This is the story he told me. The townsfolk of Whispering Pines would speak in hushed tones of the old lighthouse that sits on the edge of Lake Superior. It’s been abandoned for decades, yet on the coldest nights of winter, when the wind howls and the wolves cry, a light flickers at the top of the tower.They say it’s the spirit of Eliana, the lighthouse keeper’s wife, who vanished one winter’s night over a century ago. Her husband had gone into town for supplies, leaving Eliana alone with the beacon. A storm surged, the likes of which had never been seen, and by morning, the town awoke to an eerie calm. The lighthouse was dark, and Eliana was nowhere to be found.Every year, on the anniversary of that fateful storm, the light in the lighthouse glows. Some brave souls have ventured inside, drawn by curiosity or the thrill of fear. They climb the spiral staircase, the air growing colder with each step, until they reach the lantern room. There, they find nothing but an old oil lamp and a window looking out into the icy abyss.But as they turn to leave, a chill runs down their spines. A whisper, soft as the falling snow, fills the room, and for a moment, they feel not alone. When they dare to glance back, they catch the briefest glimpse of a woman in white, her eyes as deep and sorrowful as the lake itself. It was one of these little ventures they found this doll, one of the kids decided to take her home. But as soon as she got her home, she started to feel a heaviness in the air and things began to disappear. Then late at night she would think she could hear the soft crying of a woman. It was then she decided to take the doll to the shop keeper and that was how she ended up there. No one knows where the doll had come from or how Eliana’s spirit was bound to it. I have tried on a couple different occasions to communicate with her using the spirit box, but the only response I get is soft crying and a chill in the room. So I just leave her be. Maybe someone else out there will be able to help her come to terms with her loss or move on. Eliana comes to you in the same condition as I received her so please see pictures.
