In addition, since the driftwood is dry, it will likely float, so you need to soak it first in order to help it sink. We like to put them in a bucket and leave a brick on top of it to make it sink. Anytime you add new driftwood to a tank it generally will get a clear jelly like substance on it initially. This is normal. All plants have a risk of snails unless they are grown via tissue culture. We remove any visible snails/imperfections before shipment however to be 100% certain we suggest that you either do a 1:20 ratio bleach to water dip and/or wash the plants. The bleach dip solution is 1 part bleach, 20 parts water. Swish them around in the solution for about 10 seconds and then thoroughly rinse them off with clean freshwater before putting them in your aquarium/pond.
