Since Silver is one of the best conductors of electrons, and because RF energy flows in both the center tip and connector body, it follows that both a silver plated tip and silver plated body is the better way to go. Soldering is a craft requiring proper tools including the correct solder alloy, correct flux content, correct heat and other tools. It requires proper preparation of the components to be joined and it also requires skill. Years ago, minimal soldering skills could accomplish acceptable soldering connections for RF connectors on coax.Today, low loss coax cables such as LMR and others, use gas-injected foam technology replacing the old solid polyethylene dielectric (insulator).
