1/35 Panther Ausf. G w/Zimmerit & Single Motor Tamiya #30055 Shrink Wrapped MISB

I need to clear some
space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! The Panther
medium tank is viewed by many as one of the best tank designs of WWII with a
superb combination of mobility, protection and killing power. This early
version was essential to counter the T-34 tanks that the Soviets fielded in
large numbers. Tamiya has made Panther tank kits a core part of their lineup
and have gone farther with this kit by adding an electric motor and gearbox.

There are over a dozen
listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from overseas), but as a Top Rated Plus
US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this very quickly. Here are

The tamiya.com site has
a listing under the 1/35 Motorized Tank Series section of their On-Line
Catalog. They show a single photo with a finished and painted model, along with
the pre-assembled motor gearbox unit. They provide the following brief information

Scalemates.com has a listing that confirms this is a 2012 release based on the 1993 new mold that has spawned eight additional releases, including many RC versions. There is a link to download the complete 12-page instruction and painting guide from the original 1993 Panther G kit and dozens of links to books, walk-arounds and galleries of completed kits.

I could find no reviews
of this motorized kit (#30055), but I found reviews of previous Panther
G kits. Aside from any changes needed to add the motor and the Zimmerit
stickers, the kits should be very similar, so I believe comments about the
older kit should apply to this kit.

Ray Mehlberger did a complete In Box Review of TAM
#35170 (Panther G Early) on the indy-amps.weebly.com site that goes through the
history of the Panther tank, the kit in general and then each sprue, the tracks,
kit hardware and the decal sheet. The photos are high quality and you can see
exactly what comes in the box. He does not express any opinions on the kit
other than saying: “Highly recommended.”

Rolf Giebeler posted a detailed Preview of TAM #35174
(Panther G Late Steel Wheel) on the German-language modellversium.de site with
photos of each sprue, the tracks and the decal sheet. He noted that the kit has
held up well, saying: “Even today – more than 10 years after its release
– still a kit that is recommended for both beginners and advanced model
builders without restrictions.”

If you prefer video (and have time), Shane Smyth –
scale models published a 30-minute Unboxing Video of TAM #35176 (Panther G
Late) on YouTube that gives you a great sense of the kit contents. A slightly shorter (24 minute) Unboxing Video of the
same kit by International Scale Modeller starts with vintage video of
Panthers before looking at the kit.

This kit is in a sturdy,
decorated box about 15” x 9.5” x 2.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the
package is immaculate and still in the original shrink wrap, so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready.

This item contains one complete
injection molded plastic model kit with tan and black plastic parts, one piece
vinyl tracks, a tank commander figure, a set of Zimmerit stickers, a sheet of
decals and a completely assembled battery-powered motorized gearbox
to run the tank forward. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use

that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide
more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into
discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your
goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye
